Characteristic of Department of Mathematics
In April 1997, the Department of Mathematics has been restructured under
the new basic concept: Namely in our department you may study not only a
traditional Mathematics but also a part of Computer Science
which is based on a modern Mathematics. Because of an international identity
in Mathematics, several lectures are given by leading foreign mathematicians.
Fundamental and/or compulsory courses (e.g. Calculus, Linear Algebra, Computational
Mathematical Sciences) are supported by Teaching Assistantsof graduate
students. Moreover there are Freshman Seminar and Mathematics
Seminarwith Tea time for freshmen and senior, respectively.
Each of lectures makes an infrastructure of graduate course in Mathematics.
Main research areas of 11 professors are as follows;
-
Probability Theory (Stochastic Particle Systems, Nonlinear Stochastic
PDE),
-
Prediction Theory,
-
Geometric Structures on Low Dimensional Manifolds,
-
Arithmetic Algebraic Geometry,
-
Riemannian Submanifold and Finite Type Submanifold,
-
Gauge Theory and 4-manifold Topology,
-
Theory of Manifolds,
-
Global Analysis,
-
Mathematical Physics, Applied Analysis,
-
Infinite Dimensional Stochastic Analysis andSuper Symmetric Quantum
Field Theory,
-
Algebraic Number Theory and Discrete Mathematics,
-
Stochastic Analysis and Algebraic Geometry.
All the candidates including handicap persons who have a will to study
Mathematical Sciences! We'll welcome you to our Department.
